
A man was arrested Sunday morning after police say he punched his wife in the mouth took two of her pet cats, one of which she found dead.
It was around 8:30 a.m. when police were called out to the 1400 block of Maryland Street, where a woman stated that her husband, 31-year old Michael Zopp, had gotten into an argument with her and punched her in the mouth with a closed fist. The woman told police that he grabbed two of her cats by their throats and carried them around to the back of the apartment.
The woman said that she followed Zopp behind the apartment to see what he was going to do to her cats. She found one of the cats dead and was unable to located the other one.
When officers arrived, they arrested Zopp for assaulting his wife and for killing one of the cats, which is a state jail felony.
