Radnor pet lovers will soon have a new venue to find treats and toys for their furry, finned or feathered friends.
Pet Supplies Plus will be moving into an 11,700-square-foot retail space at 127 West Lancaster Avenue in Wayne that now houses a Rite Aid drug store. Pet Supplies Plus, founded in 1988, has 285 stores in 23 eastern states, according to Patrick Roach, a spokesman.
Owners can find a large supply of natural and organic pet foods there, said Roach. The store specializes in pet foods without any chemically synthetic additives or ingredients. There will also be toys, rawhides and chews, he said. Pet Supplies Plus emphasizes items that are made in America.
The store, which uses the slogan “America’s Favorite Neighborhood Pet Store,” specializes in food and supplies for dogs, cats, birds, fish and reptiles. The store will also offer grooming and dog wash services. While this location will be corporately owned, some of the other locations are franchises.
“We understand the special bond between owners and their pets and, at the end of the day, we believe that pets own people—not the other way around,” Roach said.
Meanwhile, Rite Aid is moving to a new building the corner of West Lancaster and Aberdeen avenues.
